So I spent the weekend in Boston for a neat event semi related to work, but not really. Anyway, while wandering around last night I remembered seeing some of the places I’d seen four years ago when I went up in Spring of 2005 for a training class.

Anyway, I figured that when I’d get home I’d look through some of the photos of how I remember Boston and what I saw over the weekend. While doing so I went through my “picture archive” which spans back to early 2003 when I bought my first digital camera.

The first picture is gone – I’m guessing I took a picture of the inside of the lens cap. 🙂 The second, third and fourth pictures though… all Mom. They’re all of Mom at Immanuel Bible Church, a community that she deeply loved and cared for.

So I figured I’d share them with you all.

  1. Great pictures Dan, especailly for a novice digital camera owner ;). I think I like the last one of mom best! Of course the one right above with her wearing those spunky pink glasses is pretty cute too. Oh how she loved the color pink….thanks for sharing!

  2. It’s very special that she was the first person on your camera, Dan. I really love her glasses– fashion forward 🙂

  3. Thank you for sharing these, Dan. Such fond memories. Your mom was absolutely the most emotionally generous person I have ever known. She was so encouraging to be around, ready to listen and offer from her vast wisdom if you wanted that. And her prayers went straight to the ears and heart of God. 🙂

  4. Your inclusion of a voice message from your Mom really got to me, especially when I heard how she took the time to detail their experiences for the day on their trip.

You also brought back memories I have of my brother Bayard calling me July 27, 1994, just two days before he and Colonel Barrett died in Pensacola at the hands of a religious assasin trying to nullify the Roe v. Wade decision. For some reason, I recorded our conversation that one morning because, being much older, he always had good ideas and words of wisdom for me.

Your physics degree from UVA also awakened me as I received a BA in physics from UVA in ’53, and have loved working with it ever since.
