Why is it that we stress about the future? Why do we not just sit back and relax knowing that the Lord is in control? I know for me it’s more being anxious that things will turn out a particular way… putting that aside and just realizing I don’t have to be in control is actually extremely comforting.

for me, it usually swings between what-else-can-i-be-doing and it’s-totally-out-of-my-hands. i think we have to keep ourselves in check – am i doing all the leg work God expects of me (with his help)? – but also, know that he is able to lead us and work in our favor without our help and when we don’t even know it. and situations may not change, but he promises peace – even though there are days when i can’t seem to get my hands on it.
Psalm 85:7-9 (NIV) Show us your unfailing love, O LORD, and grant us your salvation. I will listen to what God the LORD will say; he promises peace to his people, his saints—but let them not return to folly. Surely his salvation is near those who fear him, that his glory may dwell in our land.
