Live 8
I have to say that I was slightly bummed not to get to go to the Live 8 concert up in Philadelphia yesterday, but I sort of think that the whole notion behind it lost its meaning thanks to a few people that performed for it. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think that the majority of the artists that performed were completely behind the message of the Live 8 concerts, but it’s more when artists perform at these events and their performances are just about themselves and nothing more, or are completely fake. I think it’s a good thing that so many artists were rallied together for something like this and hopefully it will catch the attention of the world. Apparently people aren’t really noticing when Jars of Clay, or Caedmon’s Call, or Derek Webb or churches are constantly sending people on missions trips to Africa to work amongst the people and help them to build a more stable country. What’s up with that?

Anything and anyone that brings exposure to this cause is a good thing…. famous or not.. into it or not… bottom line is that the message needs to get out there… Oh, and did you see Pink Floyd reunited with Roger Waters… I think I wet myself… (blushing)

I agree with you Dan….it seems to be mostly for self-publicity than true charity.
